Day 45 of 127 (countdown to 1/17/10)

Oh jeez... did it get cold out or what? It was brrring cold out this morning and it was hard to motivate myself to get out the door to run in my shorts! But, I got caught up in work and the sun was shining and by the time I did get out, it was "a wee bit" warmer.

I ran about 6.5 (more or less) today in the cold and wind. For the first 15 minutes, I felt like my lungs were freaking out. I seem to experience that when I haven't run outside for a long time (just inside on a treadmill) and then I go run outside. Now that I have been running outside for a long time, with the sudden temperature drop, I experience the constricting feeling in my lungs which made me need to cough and spit quite a bit - yuck.

None-the-less, it was a beautiful day and I ran in my new shoes (same that I always wear: Asics 2140, 9 wide). And they felt good and no problems. The past few runs have been very difficult for me because my right hip and then the right knee, hurt. I always stretch well, but something was bothering it. So, I took an extra day off from running and decided to change out my shoes. Today was much better. Tomorrow is a short 3 or 4 miler and then I have Friday off and a long 14 mile run on Saturday morning!

It is getting down within 80 days of the marathon, time is passing quickly. When I look too far out at the miles that we will be running in the next month or two, it seems almost impossible. But, I will trust the training and be consistent and enjoy the experience.

Until next time - Kelly
